FEDERAL GOVERNMENT APPROVES A POLICY ALLOWING FOREIGN INVESTORS TO ESTABLISH UNIVERSITIES IN NIGERIA.

The Federal Government has approved a policy called ‘Trans-national Education in Nigeria’ aimed at allowing investors and foreign institutions to establish universities in Nigeria.

The minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman disclosed this while representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 43rd Convocation ceremony of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria which was held at Mamman Kontagora Square, Main Campus, Samaru.

He said, the policy will give Nigerians quality education based on global standards and also save foreign exchange drain.

The Minister also acknowledged about the role and efforts being made by Nigerian tertiary institutions in placing the country on the path of development while assuring that, the Federal Government will continue to support institutions with suitable policies and resources.

He added that the Federal Government has introduced Student’s Loan Scheme to help students pursuing skills-based courses.

He urged all universities to explore the roles of Alumni association in helping institutions, and equally urged Alumni association to give back to their institutions.
